Prayers can never be overemphasized. Everyone needs them. When someone knows that you are praying for them, it gives them a sense of love, support, and understanding.
Pastors and church leaders seem to be people least remembered in our prayers. To be honest, how many of us diligently remember to pray for the needs of our pastors the way we do ours?
But these are the people who need it more than we do seeing they are the ones leading us on this journey.
Therefore, we shouldn’t hesitate to pray for them to carry out their divine assignments effectively.

Short Prayers For Pastors
Thank you for the blessing of our pastor to us as a local fellowship. Your word has said that you will give us pastors after your own heart that will lead and teach us correctly (Jeremiah 3:15), and we thank you for giving us such.
Father, continue to empower him to be a blessing to us by giving him the strength, the insight and the inspiration to impart us all with the truth of our Lord Jesus each week. Bless his family and provide all they need. Keep them from evil and may he not fail in your purpose for his life, in Jesus name, Amen.”
Prayer For Pastors And Church Leaders
Thank you for our pastors and church leaders. We can’t begin to imagine what they deal with every day as they continue to serve as shepherds and servants of the church. We ask that you will strengthen them.
Your word in 2Timothy 4:2 said to preach the word, prepared in season and out of season. To correct, rebuke and encourage – with great patience and careful instruction. Therefore, Father, empower them by your Holy Spirit in preaching the word. Give them the boldness to speak matters of your heart and not seek to please men.
Lord give them grace to rise against every appearance of evil in the church when others are silent over it. Let them be encouragers in the body, with wisdom to know what to say and when to say it, in Jesus name, Amen.”

Prayers For Pastor’s Strength
Lord, we know that even as members of the body, we get exhausted on this journey and from the struggles of life; and we understand that as leaders, pastors go through even more. We therefore ask on behalf of our dear pastor, that you will give him strength to navigate through the rough seasons.
In Isaiah 40:29, your word said that you give strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Therefore, Lord, raise a solid support for our pastor. Keep him from loneliness. Grant him the humility and wisdom to know when they need rest and to take it as they seek you through their weariness.
Lord, help them to depend on you and not on their strength. Cause them, therefore, to rise against all odds and overcome every obstacle, in Jesus name, Amen.”
Prayer For Pastor’s Health
You have been a faithful God and have always answered our prayers as you continue to use our pastor to teach us your ways. Thank you for anointing him for us, and also answering his prayers over us.
Lord, we ask that as he continues to serve your purposes in this church, sustain him, and preserve him in body, soul, and spirit. We lift up his health into your hands, and we pray that you will heal and keep him healed. We bind every spirit of sickness, depression, or any form of affliction against his health.
You word in Hebrews 12:24 says that the Blood of Jesus speaks better things than the blood of Abel. And in 1Peter 2:24, it says that by the wounds of Jesus, we are healed. Therefore, Father, we plead the Blood of Jesus over our pastor’s health.
Lord, meet every worrying need in his life and family, and help him to stay healthy and strong, equipped to continue to be a blessing to your church, in Jesus name, Amen.”
Prayer For Pastor And Family
In your word, it is written that the children of the righteous, those who fear and serve you, will be great upon the earth. We pray that our pastor’s children will be honorable. They will grow in wisdom, in statue, and in favor with God and men.
Father, in agreement with Exodus 23:25-26, we pray that because our pastor and his family are serving you, they will not lack provision. We decree that there shall be no death, miscarriage, and loss in his home. They shall be blessed going out, and blessed coming in.
Our pastor’s wife shall be like Deborah, and like Esther. She will be a great source of encouragement, a beacon of light to our pastor and her children. She will be a model for the women in our church in humility and total dedication to you.
We plead the blood over them and ask for provision of all they need and preservation from evil today, in Jesus name, Amen.”
Prayer For Pastor Appreciation
You are the God who sit high above all names, authority, and power. You are the one who sets the seasons in place, and blesses us with good things.
Father, thank you for one of your great gifts to us, our pastor. We cannot thank you enough for him. You knew exactly what our lives needed – change in the right direction, growth, the fear of God, holiness, resemblance to Christ, love and kindness; and you chose to give us all that by giving us our pastor who will guide us into them.
We ask, oh Lord, that you will give us the grace to continue to appreciate him and submit to his authority as the under-shepherd of your flock. Remove pride and disrespect from our hearts, and help us yield to his instructions as we honor him, thereby leading to our own progress, in Jesus name, Amen.”
Welcoming Prayer For A New Pastor
Now Father, please help him to not forget the honor in serving your people, and serve himself instead. Keep him from the temptations of pride and lust and greed, but make him an exemplary leader in all he will do here. We pray that he will be given to prayer and to the study of the word, sound in both to be a worthy and excellent leader indeed.
Help us to respect him and submit to the authority you have placed on him. Cause his leadership to bring increase to our church spiritually, physically, and financially, in Jesus name, Amen.”
Spiritual Warfare Prayers For Pastors
We command every onslaught of hell against him to fail. He shall not fall nor become weary and give up. He declare that our pastor is kept from everything that diminishes the anointing of God upon him. Instead, he will grow from strength to strength, and even in the storm, he will increase and be stronger, in Jesus name, Amen.”
Intercessory Prayer For Pastors
Now, Father, we lift him up as a leader before you. You see his heart more than we do and you know the things he needs, and the battles he deals with every passing day.
Father, we uphold him in prayers today, and ask that whatever he desires, in accordance to your will, that you make them available to him.
Sustain him in his ministry to you. Let him drown in your love and comfort instead of depression and criticism.
Grant him victory against both the spiritual and physical oppositions, in Jesus name, Amen.”
